Competitors must be in year 6 or in year 7 and come from schools that subscribe to Times Tables Rock Stars.
The winner is the competitor who correctly answers the most questions in the Grand Final. In the event of a tie, the winner will be the one that has incorrectly answered the fewest questions and if there is still a tie, we will repeat the Grand Final.
How many teams are entering? There is a limit of 50 schools, each sending one team of three students. Students must be in year 6 or year 7.
We're not a TT Rock Star school, can we still enter a team? The competition is only open to TTRS subscribers (one of the perks of a subscription) but you can register here.
Can we field more than one team?Just one team per school please.
What are the prizes?Well, by now you know about the helicopter flight! (The helicopter has space for the 3 students, their teacher, our videographer, oh, and the pilot.) There are also medals, pinbadges, wristbands and an Air Guitar trophy to be won!
Will this be in the press?Maybe. We're in the process of contacting local papers and news stations. If your school has links to a newspaper, by all means make contact but please let us know.
VenuesThe Halifax event will be held at Trinity Academy Halifax, while the London event will be at Bolingbroke Academy.
Can parents come and watch?Yes, absolutely. For security reasons, they cannot turn up unannounced; their names will have to be provided in advance.
What is the format of the competition? The competition consists of Qualifiers (heats) followed by a Quarter Final, a Semi Final and a Grand Final.
The Qualifiers are multiplication-only 60 second rounds beginning with just the 2s, then the 3s and so on up to the 12s.
The top 16 qualifiers will proceed to the Quarter Finals, where they will be split into 2 random groups of 8. Each group has a head-to-head 60 second round, facing identical questions up to 12x12, including division.
The top 4 from each group proceed to the Semi Final, where the same happens - they are split into 2 random groups of 4. As with the Quarter Final, the Semi Final is a 60 second head-to-head for each group. The fastest three will proceed to the Grand Final.
The Grand Final is a 3 minute head-to-head and the winner is the one who has correctly answered the most questions. In the event of a tie, the winner will be the one that has incorrectly answered the fewest questions and if there is still a tie, we will repeat the 3 minute battle!
What do I need to do to enter a team?Booking opens on Wednesday 4th May.
